At prePiano, we believe that musicality begins long before a child can read a single note on a staff. For children in the pre-reading stage, music should not be about memorization: it should be about discovery, exploration, and joy.

Our free prePiano app is designed as a digital entry point to this world. It is a simplified, sensory-rich instrument that allows your child to interact with sound in a way that feels like play, but functions like early music education.

How to Play Together

There are no "wrong" notes in this app. We encourage you to sit with your child and explore the following:

Color and Sound: Notice how certain colors, such as the red keys, sound different from the others. This builds auditory discrimination: the ability to hear the difference between pitches.
Rhythm Shapes: Encourage your child to tap a sequence, such as a red key followed by a white key. This is the foundation of rhythmic composition.
Label Awareness: As they tap, you can gently point out the letters. Even if they cannot read yet, they are beginning to associate symbols with specific sounds.

Why This Matters

When a child "composes" a sequence of notes, they are engaging in complex cognitive tasks. They are practicing:
